On August 22, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris received positive news from the black voter base, as the latest poll results showed that African-American voters supported her more than Republican candidate Donald Trump.
According to a VNA correspondent in New York, the results of a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center from August 5-11 showed that registered black voters supporting Vice President Harris overwhelmingly outnumbered black voters supporting former President Donald Trump and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Specifically, up to 77% of black voters surveyed said they would vote or were inclined to support Ms. Harris, while the rates for Mr. Trump and Kennedy were 13% and 7%, respectively. Candidate Kennedy is expected to officially announce his withdrawal from the election campaign soon.
The results further show that the Democratic Party is gaining more support from black voters.
In early July, this group of voters supported President Joe Biden at more than 60%. In addition, the percentage of black, college-educated and younger voters supporting Ms. Harris also increased sharply compared to before she became the Democratic presidential candidate, with 84% in August compared to 74% in May.

On the morning of August 21 (Vietnam time), Vice President Harris was officially approved as the Democratic Party’s candidate in the presidential election this November. The vote took place at the United Center indoor sports center within the framework of the Democratic National Convention.
The 59-year-old politician is the first woman of color to be nominated as a presidential candidate by a major party in the United States. She became the Democratic Party’s representative after President Biden announced he would stop running on July 21.
In a report filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on August 20, Harris’ fundraising group announced that it had raised an additional $204 million in July, while Trump’s group raised $48 million.
Including allied committees, Ms. Harris’s campaign raised a total of $310 million last month, while Mr. Trump’s campaign and allied committees raised $138 million.
According to Harris’s aides, most of the money raised by the campaign group and related committees was concentrated in the last days of July, after President Joe Biden announced he was ending his campaign and supporting his “vice president” as the Democratic candidate on July 21.
More than $60 million was raised in just the first three days after Harris entered the race for the White House.
FEC filings show that Ms Harris’s campaign also spent more than Mr Trump’s in the past month — $81 million compared to $24 million.
