Sir David’s tribute to natural history broadcasting ‘pioneers’! B

Sir David Attenborough says the BBC’s natural history broadcasting unit in Bristol has “led the world to be truthful”.

The corporation is celebrating 90 years of output from the studios.

Sir David, 98, paid tribute to the city unit’s pioneering work when it began producing The Naturalist in the 1940s, presented by Desmond Hawkins.

And he told BBC Points West the world would be in a “far, far worse situation” without its programming, adding: “People are aware of the problems of conservation in a way that could not exist without broadcasting. It’s always a joy to visit Bristol.”
