Nigel Farage has launched a furious attack against the Conservative Party
Nigel Farage has launched a scathing attack after Kemi Badenoch was announced as the new Conservative Party leader.
Ms Badenoch, the MP for North West Essex, won the leadership contest this morning.
In response to this, Nigel Farage posted online: “Kemi Badenoch will make no difference as leader of the Conservative Party.
“They have broken the trust of the British people and the brand is broken.”
In a video shared on X, Nigel Farage said: “As projected and, indeed, delivered, Kemi Badenoch is the leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition, which means the Conservative Party has turned their backs on the idea of leaving the ECHR, because that’s what Robert Jenrick stood for.
“What you are going to get with Kemi Badenoch is more of the same. Pretty much exactly the same as the last 14 years.
“And I’ve got to tell you, one thing they don’t understand – it isn’t about the individuals, the Conservative brand is broken.”
Kemi Badenoch has been crowned as the new Conservative Party leader after winning a four-month contest against five other candidates.
The North West Essex MP beat Robert Jenrick in the final leg of the leadership contest today.
She received 53,806 votes whereas Jenrick fell behind with 41,388.
Her campaign throughout the contest was named Renewal 2030 as she seeks to target the next General Election – her goal is to defeat Sir Keir Starmer’s party and return the Conservatives to power.
Ms Badenoch’s victory speech earnestly thanked the other candidates saying her first duty is to hold Labour to account, adding: “Our party is critical to the success of our country.”
Kemi Badenoch crowned as the new Tory leader
“It is time to get down to business. It is time to renew.”
Reform UK hit out at the new Tory leader earlier today, claiming “she has failed at every turn and now in true Tory fashion, she is being rewarded for this failure”.
In a press release, the party shone a spotlight on her “record of failure”, highlighting eight points which they believe she previously failed at.
Reform UK Deputy Leader, Richard Tice MP said: “Kemi Badenoch is another in a long line of Tory politicians who say one thing and do another.
“She has failed the British public before and she will fail them again as leader of the Conservative Party.”
