A masked ‘blade runner’ vigilante was filmed axing a ULEZ camera to the ground in the latest attack on Sadiq Khan‘s controversial scheme.

The man, thought to be part of a group known asas ‘Blade Runners’, opted for his own version of justice in footage that emerged online on August.

The shocking footage shows the suspect on Waterloo Road in Uxbridge confidently stroll up to the camera with his electric saw.

Before the man dressed in all black begins hacking his way through pole, another individual filming can be heard saying: ‘ULEZ about to be on the deck.’

After the metal pole crashes to the ground, the thug goes in for round two slicing away beneath the camera.

The man then flees the scene carrying the camera away while waving his saw in the air in victory.

It comes as a spate of ULEZ camera attacks have occurred in recent months as the group protests against the £12.50 charge for Londoners who take their cars to certain parts of the city.

Members of the public have voiced their opinions on the controversial ULEZ cameras, on the most recent incident.

One said: ‘The London rate payers are footing the bill for this. You are not a hero but a criminal hurting everyone. If you have an issue talk to your MP, Councillor or vote.’

‘Vandalising public property in 2024,’ a second quipped.

Another added: ‘Excellent work by that bladerunner.’

Whilst a fourth chimed in: ‘Great work lads.’

However one person bemoaned: ‘London council tax payers are going to love this, just going to go on their council tax bill next year. Bit of an own goal really.’

MailOnline has approached Metropolitan Police for comment.

This comes shortly after a member of the infamous blade runners gang vowed to coninue destroying Sadiq Khan’s hated ULEZ cameras last October.

In an interview with Talk TV, the masked maverick – who used Ben as a fake name – claimed to have wrecked 150 of the traffic cameras since they were expanded across the capital’s boroughs on August 29.

Ben, wearing a balaclava and hood, is seen in the footage using an angle-grinder to cut down a Ulez camera mounted on a traffic light in just four seconds.

The father-of-three, aged in his forties, said he goes out in the dead of night several days a week flouting the law to carry out what he calls ‘unpaid voluntary work’.

Speaking to TalkTV, Ben claimed he’s behind a near total blackout of enforcement cameras in the Bromley area, one of the Greater London boroughs where the scheme has been extended.

Ben insisted support among the public was widespread with many hailing them as heroes, saying, ‘We are the voice of the people. You experienced the cheers against ULEZ right there and then you can see we are reflecting the voice of the public.’

Ben – who has been a member of the group for several months, and said membership is growing: ‘It started off as a small group of people and it has gradually grown.

‘Since the expansion went live on August 29, numbers have increased significantly. We’re like a pack of lone wolves. We sometimes work together, we work in isolation, and we all have this common goal.’

Ben said mayor Sadiq Khan is targeting the most vulnerable people at the worst possible time as they struggle through a cost of living crisis.

He explains: ‘The members of society that have less disposable income are hit the hardest because if they can’t afford to change their vehicle, they’ll be subject to that daily charge no matter what.

He claimed the ULEZ network has been installed to ‘catch everyone out’.
