Vance visited Holt’s Sweet Shop in Valdosta on Thursday.
JD Vance has been ridiculed on social media for an “awkward” and “cringeworthy” encounter he had with an employee at a donut shop during a photo op in Georgia.
The Republican vice presidential nominee made a stop at Holt’s Sweet Shop in Valdosta on Thursday while visiting the town for a campaign rally.
In a video shared on social media, Vance can be seen surrounded by camera crews and reporters during the photo op at the store.
He then attempted to make small talk with one of the shop’s employees, before she immediately shot him down.
“The zoo has come to town. Thank you for letting us come in here,” Vance told the worker.

“I don’t want to be on camera,” the employee replied.
Vance told the crew not to film the woman, before he introduced himself to the employee, who seemed unimpressed.
“I’m JD Vance. I’m running for vice president,” Vance told the worker, who replied, “okay.”
He then proceeded to place an order for two dozen donuts.
“Just a random assortment of stuff here,” he said.
“Everything. A lot of glazed here. Some sprinkle stuff. Some of these cinnamon rolls. Just whatever makes sense.”
The viral clip was mocked by many users online, with some describing it as “cringeworthy.”
“Most awkward conversation I’ve ever seen! Wow he’s weird!” one user wrote.
“This is so cringeworthy. A normal person would turn off the cameras and be a person,” another wrote.
“Vance looks so awkward and uncomfortable. The workers don’t look like they want to be there. Vance is not a leader. When he’s not on script he’s woefully lost,” another user wrote.
Later on Thursday, Vance criticized Kamala Harris for her record on crime and border security during a rally.
Harris and her running mate Tim Walz have branded Vance and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump “weird” in multiple interviews and rallies.
Trump on Thursday traveled to Arizona to campaign on immigration.
