The US Navy is currently using mainly the F/A-18 heavy carrier-based fighter of the E/F Super Hornet version.

The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet was developed from the famous F/A-18 Hornet carrier-based fighter. They were put into service in the US Navy in 1999 to replace the F-14 Tomcat. The F/A-18 Super Hornet was designed in two versions, the single-seat E version and the two-seat F version.

Structural changes make the aircraft larger, have longer range, carry more weapons and have the ability to perform multiple missions with light stealth to avoid being tracked by enemy air defenses. This is considered the most powerful US carrier fighter.

Equipped with a more powerful radar, a more diverse arsenal, and through combat, the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is considered the most successful 4.5 generation aircraft in the world. It is also the carrier-based fighter with the most weapons and longest range.

The unique feature is the airborne refueling system (ARS) that allows them to receive fuel from tankers, and at the same time they will transform themselves into tankers to refuel other aircraft when necessary.
