Charlie Mullins has left the UK due to concerns over Labour’s proposed tax hikes – and says he will only return on one condition.
Charlie Mullins claims Keir Starmer is the new Robin Hood
Businessman Charlie Mullins has revealed his decision to leave the UK until Nigel Farage becomes Prime Minister. Mr Mullins, 87, has relocated to Spain until a potential change in leadership.
In a recent interview with Jeremy Vine, he said he was dissatisfied with Labour’s “Robin Hood” approach, which he believes could adversely affect his financial situation.
He specifically criticised the potential hikes in capital gains and inheritance taxes, arguing that these increases would place an undue burden on individuals who have already contributed significantly to the tax system throughout their lives.
“I’ve paid over £100 million in taxes over the years, and now they want even more,” Mr Mullins said. “It’s frustrating to think about how much more we might have to pay.”
He added: “They’re going to start making rises in the taxes. They’ve robbed the old aged people of their money. He’s the new Robin Hood, Starmer. He’s robbing people of their money to feed the migrants.”
Mr Mullins, who has a history of political involvement and philanthropy, contends that the current policies are detrimental to wealth creators and will drive more successful individuals out of the UK.
Despite his concerns, Mullins acknowledged the challenges faced by the UK and noted that his decision to leave is not solely based on the current political climate.
He added that his move is also about finding a more favourable environment for his personal and business interests.
“My intention is not to evade taxes but to find a more stable environment where I can manage my affairs without the fear of excessive financial penalties,” Mullins explained.
