Sir Keir Starmer will continue cosying up to the EU on Tuesday when he welcomes Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen at Downing Street.

The leaders would have crossed paths in Brussels on Monday when Sir Keir jetted to an EU summit in an effort to strengthen ties with the Bloc.

 reset minister Nick Thomas-Symonds will also give a speech this morning in Brussels this morning, in which he’ll pitch the benefits of a closer UK-EU relationship.

The second day of pro-EU events followed a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at Chequers on Sunday and a big meeting of EU heads of state yesterday.

Five years on from Brexit, the UK Prime Minister is on a mission to bring Britain closer to its European neighbours, particularly on security and defence matters.
