Donald Trump claimed in a live Fox News interview Tim Walz’s “whole family” supports him – but this appears to be exaggerated.

The Republican presidential nominee spoke to Sean Hannity on Wednesday night, referencing Walz’s brother, Jeff, and how he famously backs the GOP.

Trump said to fellow supporters: “His brother endorsed me. And his whole family – I saw the picture and, honestly, it was a very nice looking family.”

The photo Trump refers to has been circulating on social media throughout the day. It shows a group of people wearing “Nebraska Walz’s for Trump,” but they are distant cousins of the Democratic Vice Presidential nominee.

Walz’s sister, Sandy Dietrich, of Alliance, Nebraska, said she did not recognize them, and they were later confirmed to be descendants of Francis Walz, brother to Tim Walz’s grandfather.

Aside from his brother, Walz’s immediate family is considered Democrat-supporting.

His mom, Darlene Walz, is a lifelong Democrat who has campaigned alongside him at every step of his political journey.

Sister Sandy Dietrich also strongly rejected Trump’s claim, describing her family as “Democrats for Tim.”

The photo was first posted on X by Charles Herbster, a former candidate for governor in Nebraska who had Trump’s endorsement in the 2022 campaign.

Herbster’s spokesperson, Rod Edwards, said the people in the photo are cousins to the Minnesota governor, who is now Kamala Harris’ running mate
