Don Lemon angered liberals as he warned them that Kamala Harris may not be able to count on large margins of black voters in her quest to beat Donald Trump.
Recent polling figures have showed Harris improving the Democrat ticket’s standing with black people by double digits after Joe Biden quit his re-election campaign.
However, Lemon – a former fixture on CNN and darling of liberal media – has poured cold water on that data with his recent interviews of black voters across the country with remarks which have triggered an outpouring of fury.
He presented his findings to Jen Psaki, former White House Press Secretary and now MSNBC host, last week, saying many black voters ‘don’t know’ Harris and black male voters credit Trump for pandemic relief checks.
‘I am not quite sure that the polls are accurate as it relates to the tightening of the polls and who will support whom,’ he told Psaki.

Lemon explained that black men, especially, were ‘supporting Donald Trump because he gave them a stimulus check’.
‘He gave them $1,200 back when he was president. They did not somehow remember that the current president also gave them a stimulus check, except his name wasn’t on it,’ he said, referring to Biden.
‘So, when they got the check, and his name was on it, they automatically thought it came directly from Donald Trump, which I think is good marketing,’ Lemon said.
Lemon, citing his interviews with black people from the Jersey Shore to the battlegrounds of Pennsylvania and Ohio, said black people don’t really know Harris.
‘For the most part, in Pittsburgh, or the Jersey Shore, in Ohio, many people did not know who she was. They were not familiar with her,’
He then pivoted back to Trump and said: ‘With him, they thought that he’s better for the economy. That he brought money into the community, that he was on Black people’s side.’
Lemon then complained of these voters falling for what he called misinformation about Trump.
The former CNN host, however, pointed out that many of the reasons voters cited for supporting Trump were based on misinformation.

‘I think it’s important for them to understand and go to the voting booth with some knowledge that they are informed as an electorate. And for other reasons they were telling me, the information was all false. They didn’t understand the correct reasons why they might vote for him.’
His remarks spurred a series of furious reactions.
One person shared online: ‘My, how the mighty have fallen. Remember when mainstream news mocked content creators and influencers? Now, Don Lemon, formerly of CNN, is on the street doing content creator-style interviews, asking people if they support Kamala Harris or Donald Trump.’
Another said Lemon was ‘clinging on for dear life’.
‘Let’s be realistic, he could have fished that boardwalk all day and night and gotten probably all the answers he wanted,’ said someone else.
‘He actually published both sides, despite making it clear he is still on his own side.’
Conservatives appeared to delight in Psaki’s bafflement with Lemon’s findings on social media.
‘Psaki gets visibly upset after Don Lemon reveals that voters don’t know who Kamala is AND that Black voters are flocking to Trump,’ wrote one X user. ‘That’s not the story. Story is she has NO IDEA this is happening.’
Another added: ‘Jen Psaki does not look pleased when Don Lemon tells her most people in battleground states don’t know who Kamala is, and they believe Trump is better for the economy.’
A recent Pew Research survey shows Harris leading Trump with black voters by a margin of 77% to 13%.
In their last polls of Joe Biden’s flailing campaign, he only had about 64% of the black vote.
Harris had largely taken voters from then-third party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose support dropped from 21% to 7%.
Kennedy Jr. has since dropped out of the race and endorsed Trump, though his name remains on the ballot in several states.
Harris’ numbers are still a far cry from the 92% of the black vote Joe Biden got in 2020 and Lemon’s recent videos show that these polls may not be an accurate representation of black voters.

And in one toe-curling exchange, a voter laughs in Lemon’s face after the journalist tried to argue with his personal experience. In another instance he sensationally asks a male interviewee if his resistance to Harris is because ‘she is a woman.’
The clip of Lemon, which has 2.1 million views, begins with him asking a stranger on the street: ‘Who do you support?’
The man replies: ‘Trump for the win.’
When Lemon probes him further, he continues: ‘I can’t really call that right now. But I just feel like [Harris] isn’t good for President. She’s good for Vice. But not the actual lead role in the country.’
The journalist then asks the young man if his opinion has ‘anything to do with her being a woman’ to which he responds resolutely: ‘no.’
He added: ‘Because I feel like women, nah I’m not going to give you that.’

Another voter explained that ‘she doesn’t have any experience.’
An incredulous Lemon replied: ‘She’s the Vice President! She’s the Senator.’
A female voter is then filmed telling the journalist: ‘I want Donald Trump. I just feel we need somebody who has a stronger background with the military and the world in general.’
She later added: ‘I know nobody likes him but we had good times with Donald Trump. Our economy was good. Life was good.’
A fourth voter tells the journalist: ‘I want to support the Democratic party, but I mean Trump looks like he’s got it in the bag right now.’
Lemon is heard telling two voters that the ‘stats show’ the economy was stronger under Biden than Trump to which they both dismiss his assertions.
