A breathtaking Scottish seaside town has been named one of the UK’s best coastal spots, thanks to its secluded beach and jaw-dropping castle.

Maybole, a market town in Ayrshire, has earned a spot on a new list of the “26 best seaside towns in the UK,” compiled by travel experts at the Camping and Caravanning Club.

Located around nine miles south of Ayr, Maybole is the only Scottish destination to make the list, securing the 21st spot.

While Maybole is not directly on the coast, it’s just a short 10-minute drive – or a gorgeous 90-minute walk – from the sea.

The town’s standout attraction is Culzean Beach, described by the experts as “pretty and secluded,” offering a peaceful stretch of sand and rocks with sweeping views across the Firth of Clyde to Arran and Ailsa Craig.

Overlooking the beach is the Culzean Castle, which is perched on a clifftop within a 260-hectare estate.

The castle, open to the public, adds a fairytale charm to the coastal surroundings with its architecture and lush grounds.

The Daily Record reported that visitors are often captivated by the picturesque views of Culzean Castle from both the beach and the nearby Croy Shore Beach.

But Maybole isn’t just about its stunning coastline. The town itself has historical landmarks like the 19th-century parish church, built with orange stone and featuring a distinctive square spire.

History enthusiasts can also explore the ruins of Crossraguel Abbey, a medieval monastery that offers a glimpse into Scotland’s past.

For those looking for outdoor activities, Maybole has a nine-hole golf course and a 25-metre swimming pool.

The town’s independent shops and cozy restaurants also add to its charm, making it a great destination for both day trips and longer stays.

Interestingly, Maybole also has a literary connection – it’s where the parents of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns, first met.
