BBC Breakfast viewers fume ‘no way’ as popular segment replaced.uk

BBC Breakfast came under fire from viewers during the latest instalment as fans were upset with the replacement of a popular segment

Fans of BBC Breakfast were left fuming at their television sets as popular technology programme, Click was replaced with a new segment on Saturday morning (March 29).

The much-loved programme, which aired during weekend instalments of BBC Breakfast, featured news on global technology advancement presented by a team of BBC contributors.

Presented by Spencer Kelly and Lara Lewington, the reports also explored a wide range of topics, such as consumer tech, the societal effects of new technologies, video games, and innovations in mobile technology.

But following the news that Click would no longer air, fans were left disappointed with Click’s replacement, Tech Now.

Those who were seemingly unaware of Click’s departure were left fuming when BBC Breakfast’s Charlie Stayt and Luxmy Gopal announced the new show which featured reports from presenters Adrienne Murray and Nick Kwek.

Heading over to X formerly known as Tw itter, disgruntled viewers shared their opinions.

One wrote: “Oooyyyyyy. No,no,no. Not on replacing click with this. No way.”

Another penned: “Tech Now – What is this? Some low rent version of Click?”

A third fumed:”Bring back click. Who are these imposters.” While a fourth viewer simply wrote: “Click was better… #BBCBreakfast.”

The BBC recently released a statement regarding the axe of Click after 25 years of broadcasting.

The statement read: “BBC News is committed to covering all aspects of technology across our platforms- from new advancements in products, to AI and how this will impact lives.

“As part of this, we have been reimagining and investing in our technology coverage, which has included appointing an AI correspondent and reformatting Click- which will be relaunched and renamed ‘Tech Now’.

“This will see it evolve from its traditional TV former to one where the films work well for both digital and TV audiences as standalone reports and together as the weekly programme. His is in line with changing audience demand.”

Last week, Click presenter Spencer said a heartfelt farewell to viewers.

He said: “That is it from me on Click. It has been such a privilege to see the things that I’ve seen and bring those stories to you. I have had the time of my life, and I hope you’ve enjoyed the ride too. So thank you so much for watching and goodbye.”

BBC Breakfast airs Mondays-Sundays from 6am on BBC One.
