Angela Rayner has been caught up in a new row over her Ibiza partying after she admitted declaring £836 in hospitality expenses for a visit to a DJ booth during her trip in August.

The declaration, listed under Ayita LLC, relates to a night at the popular nightclub Hi Ibiza, where Labour’s Deputy Prime Minister was filmed dancing and singing.

The footage, shared by TV presenter Denise Van Outen back in August, showed Rayner enjoying herself alongside DJ Fisher.

Captioning the clip, Van Outen said: “Including a surprise booth rave up with Angela Rayner.”

The video was a stark contrast to the political turmoil surrounding the government at the time.

Rayner’s outing occurred against the backdrop of Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s smoking ban proposal, which sparked outrage among voters and prompted significant criticism from political rivals.

As Sir Keir’s met with President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, Rayner’s Ibiza trip came under scrutiny just days after the Prime Minister warned the nation about impending economic difficulties and the need for sacrifices.

Despite the backlash, Rayner defended her decision to enjoy herself while on holiday, telling Sky News: “I was on holiday for a couple of days, I mean you can criticise my dancing, it is subjective.

“I take my job really seriously and what I do and I’m always in Parliament and I’m always doing what needs to be done and I’ll continue to do that.

“But I also believe as a former trade unionist that … you’ve got to have downtime as well. Everybody has to have downtime.

“But I do take my job really seriously and like to talk about what I’m doing to help other people.”

The Deupty Prime Minister has also opened up about her passion for dance music in the past.

In an interview with The Mirror last summer, she spoke about her previous trip to Spain where she danced “from 4pm until 5am”.

She said: “I’m proud of that,” she said, adding that her critics often view her activities through a different lens.
