There’s more updates on Giorgi Mamardashvili’s transfer to Liverpool, meanwhile new updates have been shared about potential departures, including Joe Gomez.
Liverpool have been pursuing a deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili for a couple of weeks now, but to no avail just yet.
The club are keen to find a long-term successor for Alisson Becker and have identified the Georgian shot-stopper as the ideal target with the plan being that Liverpool would subsequently loan him out to Bournemouth before bringing him to Anfield in a year or two.
However, according to Marca, negotiations have stalled between the two sides. Valencia insists they want to accept nothing less than £35m for their prized asset, meanwhile Liverpool are unwilling to budge from their £30m valuation. This has created a rift that has put the operations in danger according to the report.
The latest high profile Liverpool player who has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer is Joe Gomez. The England international is currently the longest serving player at the club but that might not be the case for much longer.
Several reports have claimed Liverpool are open to listening to offers for Gomez who was omitted from Arne Slot’s first matchday squad against Ipswich on Saturday.
The Liverpool ECHO now reports that Aston Villa, Bayern Munich, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Newcastle are all interested in Gomez who could yet have a change of heart but that remains to be seen. The report also adds that Liverpool would only allow him to leave under one condition.
Rumours have sparked about Liverpool exploring a move for Everton centre-back Branthwaite. Bet365’s fluctuating odds over recent days has certainly raised questions over the apparent likelihood of the Everton defender making a switch across Stanley Park.
Liverpool fans were quick to notice the odds of the Englishman moving to Liverpool had been slashed from 10/1 to 4/5, while Branthwaite to stay at Goodison Park was priced at 6/4, portraying the idea that a move to Anfield was more likely than remaining at the Toffees.
According to the ECHO, whether a departure of Gomez could lead to genuine interest in Branthwaite remains to be seen. It’s also unclear at this stage if there is any concrete desire at Liverpool to push ahead with what would be massively costly and a shocking move.
This week saw the Reds, who are the only Premier League club yet to make a signing this summer, knocked back in their attempts to land the Spain Euro 2024 winner despite their being a degree of confidence over a £51million transfer.
New Liverpool head coach Arne Slot admitted his disappointment at not being able to land Zubimendi, having identified the 25-year-old as a player to bolster his squad and now the Real Sociedad boss has offered his thoughts regarding the situation by revealing why he thinks the midfielder opted to stay at the Reale Arena.
“He has rejected an offer,” Alguacil confirmed, as per the Daily Mirror. “There is no doubt that Liverpool is a big club and the fact that he said no to them, even though they put in what they put in, is something to be proud of.
“It means that things are being done well at the club and even if such powerful clubs come along and Martin says no.”
