Rachel Reeves branded ‘disgraceful’ by furious GB News host as she pulls out of interview.l

GB News host Stephen Dixon has said: “its not on,” after Chancellor Rachel Reeves unexpectedly cancelled their interview.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves has faced brutal backlash from GB News presenter Stephen Dixon after she cancelled their interview after being delayed by almost 10 minutes.

The politician was due to appear on the show to discuss the government’s recently announced 2024 Budget and face questions from concerned viewers but failed to appear.

Speaking to viewers, Stephen announced: “[Rachel Reeves] is doing what we call the media rounds this morning, it always happens the day after after a budget, where they get quizzed on all of this sort of thing.

“As with everyone else we were promised a chat with the Chancellor at eight o’clock this morning, well guess what it’s 10 past now nearly and she was there at our live position. She’s now decided she doesn’t have time to talk to us.”

The presenter continued: “Which means she hasn’t got time to talk to you, which is very disappointing, professionally in a sense,” and after some hesitation, Stephen admitted: “I think it’s disgraceful.”

“It disgraceful to think that they don’t want to take questions from us.”

Suggesting the cancellation was down to the programmes popularity, Stephen added: “We don’t know what out viewing figures are today, we’ll find out after 24 hours.

“A week ago our viewing figures three times Sky News’ figures at the same point, three times and I’m being told she has been there this morning. But she doesn’t want to talk to you this morning.

“She doesn’t want to explain herself and these decisions to you this morning and frankly, that’s not on.”

The presnter fumed: “It’s not on for this budget, £40 billion tax raising budget which is history making in an of itself and she doesn’t want to explain it to you. How can that be right.”

Stephen’s co-host Ellie Costello stated: “It is such a shame isn’t it, such a shame. As you say, not speaking to us is not speakign to the British people and it is what’s going to affect you.

“It’s important that she’s held to account, it’s important that she’s scrutanised, it’s important that she talks to you and explains what she set out yesterday but she said she didn’t have time to do that today.”

After agreeing that he was also “disappointed,” Stephen revealed: “Mind you we were only promised five minutes which is not a lot of time,” as Ellie interjected: “You might get two questions.”

He added: “Hopefully she will be talking to out political editor later on. I don’t know whether that’s going to be live or pre-recorderd. So you will get a sense later on.”
