Nigel Farage accused Labour of “direct interference” in the US election after it emerged more than 100 current and former staff will campaign for the Democrats.

Activists from Sir Keir Starmer‘s party will travel to swing states Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia to canvass for Kamala Harris ahead of the ballot on November 5.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, a close ally of Republican Donald Trump, said: “This is direct election interference by the governing Labour Party, and particularly stupid if Trump wins.”

A Labour staffer shared the opportunity in a LinkedIn post on Wednesday.

They wrote: “I have nearly 100 Labour party staff, current and former, going to the US in the next few weeks, heading to North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

“I have 10 spots available for anyone available to head to the battleground state of [North] Carolina – we will sort your housing.”

The Telegraph reported that staff were also emailed on August 2 and asked if anyone would be willing to go to the US to “help our friends across the pond elect their first female president”.

It is understood the trips are for individuals in a personal capacity and are not organised or funded by Labour.

The accommodation is being arranged by volunteers campaigning for the Democrats.

But the revelation has sparked an intense backlash from Republicans, with former Trump aide Sebastian Gorka branding it a “bloody outrage”.

Meanwhile, former PM Liz Truss insisted that Mr Trump is “definitely going to win now”.

Reform MP Lee Anderson added: “How to ruin the special relationship. Just imagine if Donald Trump wins in a few weeks time.

“He’s then got to deal with Labour’s David Lammy who called him a ‘neo-Nazi sympathizing sociopath’ and ‘a racist KKK and Nazi sympathizer’.

“Not only that he will also have to deal with a British Government that sent over an army of activists to stop him winning the election. This is very worrying indeed.”
