The teenager, who rose to fame playing young wizard Hermione in the film series, had a message to fans posted on her website delivering the news.

It read: “Emma has received her A-Level results and we are absolutely delighted to let you all know that she received straight A’s in her three chosen subjects namely English literature, geography and art!

“As you can imagine Emma is absolutely thrilled and we are all very proud of her. Well done Emma!”

Despite once declaring that she has already earned enough money never to have to work again, she has always insisted that her fame will not stand in the way of her education.

Friends say that the brainy star is now hoping to secure a place at Cambridge University to read Philosophy.

Despite appearing in the first Harry Potter film when she was nine, Watson managed to achieve ten A grades in her GCSEs two years ago.

Her achievements are made all the more remarkable for the amount of time she has spent outside the classroom.

Because of her hectic filming schedule she has had to have a private tutor on set to give her impromptu lessons during breaks in filming.

She was given Monday mornings off by producers to attend school and would be sent assignments by her teachers every Friday.

Her completed homework had to be couriered between the studio and her school for teachers to mark.

It poses and interesting dilemma for Miss Watson, who will now have to decide whether to commit to her acting or take a break to complete her degree.

Her role in the five Harry Potter films to date have earned her a £10.5million fortune and she recently signed a £2.5million deal to star in the sixth.

For the final instalment of the franchise – to be split into two separate films – she will be paid £1.5million for each.

However, her desire to go to university has apparently been fuelled by her parents Chris and Jacqueline, who both went to Oxford.

Producers are now said to have agreed to scheduled filming of the last movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, around her university timetable, should she decided to go.

It was also revealed that in June this year, Miss Watson had signed a £3million deal to model for Chanel.

Meanwhile the new Harry Potter film, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince has been delayed for release until 2009, to coincide with the money spinning summer box office season.
